Are you a metering maniac? Do you have to know how much CPU is being used every second? Are you paranoid everytime your computer’s temperature goes from 60 to 61 degrees? Well iStat Pro will satisfy your neurosis. And don’t let the ‘Pro’ name fool you. Unlike other products that charge you extra for a ‘Pro’ version, iStat Pro is absolutely free. It works as a dashboard widget and monitors almost everything you can think of: RAM, temperatures, CPU, hard drive space, fan speed, etc. It’s configurable to include or exclude certain meters, as well as rearranging the GUI to your heart’s content.
Not into widgets? Well you’re in luck! Last week iSlayer created another version of their iStat Pro with iStat Menus! This offers all the same functionality, except this will integrate the meters directly into your menu bar. It offers some extra features, such as displaying a calendar when you click on the clock in your menu bar. I don’t know why Apple hasn’t already done this, but they can thank iSlayer for doing their work for them.
Many people consider the iStat Pro a must-have application for anyone that owns a Mac.
